ISBN 90 6186 541 7 From the general conclusion: "The main purpose of this study was to identify, analyze and explain the regional development of Belgian agriculture in the first half of the nineteenth century. In a first part, the early nineteenth century agricultural product for the different regions was calculated. This resulted in a detailed database covering for the different regions important agricultural variables as land occupation, grain yields - i.e. the yearly production of meat, dairy products, skins and wool - the total agricultural output and the growth figure between those years. The second and third parts of the study are dedicated to an analysis and explanation of the early-nineteenth century agricultural development process in regional perspective. The results of the study shed new light on the question whether the Belgian Industrial Revolution was preceded by an Agricultural Revolution. This research enabled to fill an important gap in post-war Belgian agricultural history." Important work!
