Pb, in-8, 386 pp., portraits in BW, maps of France (1789, 1812, 1815), bibliographical notes, index. Biography largely based on Orieux, Dard and of course Tulard. On Belgium: T. opposed to the proposal to cut it in 4 (Antwerp to England, another part to Holland, a part to Prussia and the rest to France) after 1830 (see page 335). Talleyrand (1754-1838) told about his remarkable career and the men he served: "After shipwrecks, you need pilots to rescue the shipwrecked." (p. 338)
