Into Africa: A Guide to Sub-Saharan Culture and Diversity
revised 2nd edition. Paperback, in-8, 261 pp., no illustrations, bibliographical notes, bibliography, index.
Note LT: A very good introduction in African affairs, cultures, habits and religions. Especially the divide between islam and christian/animist religions in the Sahel is well described. On p. 174 the autors declare that the trade is about salt and gold but they forget to include the slave trade. This is picked up on further pages but then the link is broken between the three trades.
The words of Beverley G. Hawk on western media are so true: 'Africa is truly 'covered' by the western press in the sense that important stories go unreported ...' (p. 216)
