Since January 2016, 36,781 migrants, including asylum seekers are reported to have arrived to Europe by land and sea routes. Tragically 173 migrants are known to have drowned or are missing.
Since January 2015, 1,084,625 migrants, including asylum seekers are reported to have arrived to Europe by land and sea routes, of which 1,048,268 have arrived by sea.

Recent trends (update as of the 20th January 2016)

Between the 14th and 20th January 2016:

Greece: 12,647 newly arrived migrants and refugees, representing a decrease of 10% in comparison to arrivals in the previous week; overall 894,557 arrived since January 2015.

The former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia: 8,737 newly arrived migrants and refugees, representing a decrease of 22% in comparison to arrivals in the previous week; overall 424,150 arrived since June 2015.

Serbia: 12,573 newly arrived migrants and refugees; representing an increase of 10% in comparison to arrivals in the previous week; overall 608,439 arrived since January 2015.

Croatia: 13,214 newly arrived migrants and refugees; representing a decrease of 2% in comparison to arrivals in the previous week; overall 599,753 arrived since September 2015.

Slovenia: 13,559 newly arrived migrants and refugees; representing an increase of 4.5% in comparison to arrivals in the previous two weeks; overall 421,245 arrived since October 2015.

Hungary: 142 newly registered arrivals of migrants and refugees, representing an increase of 94.5% in comparison to registered arrivals in the previous week; overall 391,632 arrived since January 2015.

Italy: 235 newly registered arrivals of migrants and refugees; representing a significant a decrease of 12% in comparison to arrivals in the previous two weeks; overall 154,449 arrived since January 2015.

Malta: no new reported arrivals during the reporting period; overall 106 arrived since January 2015.
