Excellency from Africa: President Ian Khama from Botswana | Full Address and Q&A - A man with a vision for our time
The President of Botswana from 2008 to 2018 and former leader of the Botswana Defence Force, Khama has been an outspoken critic of other African leaders, primarily Robert Mugabe, for holding on to power for too long, and has also given consistent support to the International Criminal Court, unlike many of his peers. Whilst in office, Mr Khama focused on reducing poverty, expanded the powers of the presidency, and enlarged the role of the state in national media.
